Aviator as in U.S Air Force? The next question is really less about academic competition and more about health. Flying careers, assuming that is your goal, require peak physical fitness with minimal health risks. Again, this is a conversation you’ll inevitably have. I will point out as a prior Air Force, that there are other flying AFSC’s that aren’t a pilots; Weapon Systems Officers etc. If you want to fly but aren’t fully decided, talk to a recruiter (just don’t sign anything yet)
If you really want to join the Coast Guard then why get discouraged with the competition? There is competition everywhere and you always have to put up a fight for your dreams. It's way better working on a job that you really love to do for the rest of your life than doing something you don't have any interest then live thinking of the "what ifs" about your decisions in life.
Give it a shot, OP. I think it's too early to conclude and be discouraged. Just give it a try first and then you can decide whether to continue or not. Best of luck!
Hi! You should try the coast guard first if that's what you really want. Try reaching out to recruiters. Good luck!
