I recently hired a Coordinator who is having a lot of trouble managing their workload. I've given them explicit feedback multiple times that they need to work on all of their activities so we can support all internal customers timely. I'm finding if I don't micromanage, they won't work on some tasks at all because they focus on one task and seem not to dedicate much time to anything else. It's starting to become problematic. I'm getting escalations. Any idea how to get them to see the light?

I deal with this often with some of my team. For me, reminding them of the teams big picture goal usually helps. I have to remind them and re-explain often, but it works. For example:
“We can’t accommodate “blank” at your office because other offices don’t have the same resources, our goal is to create a seamless experience when employees are traveling city to city.”

Or

“When we fail to re-prioritize our tasks and time, we put some of our team members at risk of meeting a deadline or not meeting the clients expectations. Just because you deem one task more important, it’s vital to ensure that it actually is”

Give them a daily and weekly task list. You can check off what was done and what was left off on your weekly 1:1s. Ask why goals weren’t being met. Address issues and roadblocks. Sometimes, seeing targets visually helps them gauge their performance.

What should I reasonably expect from a junior?

I manage a junior developer that's been with the company for about 18 months. I end up providing them of TON of support. I need to give them extremely detailed instructions or they fail. For bugs, I need to point them to a specific function that's causing the bug. For new features, I'm basically writing their method signatures and defining their test cases.

I've tried asking them to do more on their own, but when I do, they fail spectacularly.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Do you think all these violent and hate filled attacks are because people aren't getting the emotional/mental support they need, whether it's therapy at any age or help they needed but didn't get from a social worker as a child? My coworker is sure this is the case, but I honestly think there's actually something deeper wrong either with how these people are being raised as children, or how the warning signs these people give off are ignored or swept under the rug to save face.
