Like all certs, it isn't about you. It's about what others think. I'm finally doing the SFDC Admin cert today, it's not like I'm going to be better at Salesforce because of it. It's because my firm can sell me better to people that don't know any better. PMP is the same.
I don't disagree, the CISSP folks need to do what PMI did with the PMBOK 5th edition exam and make it much more difficult. I've met some straight dopes with a CISSP. Especially Army signal corps dudes, they killed me when I was still in
Sometimes it's about the perception and not the quality. You're a manager. Look as good as possible on paper to advance
And I think that's a problem we help perpetuate with our compliance.
A client has two resumes sitting in front of them and a real job to get back to. They need a cyber / Salesforce / project manager / whatever. One person has a well known and well regarded cert, the other doesn't. Who are they going with?
I'm not saying optics isn't a thing. I'm also aware that some certs have a pervasive influence in the industry.
My personal beef with the CISSP is that it shouldn't be a "well regarded" certification in our industry. At least the way it's flaunted now.
You not believing it being a valid certification means nothing 😂
