I think I'm being quiet fired. My boss has been reducing my workload and nitpicking everything. My team is starting to notice the lighter workload and asking why I'm doing less. To cover myself, I am only handling tasks directly assigned by management. What’s a professional way to say "I'm only doing what I'm told" so I don't look like a bad teammate?

Who was around in 2008/2009 at big 4? Specifically in advisory? How were those practices affected during the layoffs? Any insight to ease some of the worry/unknown would be greatly appreciated.

Let’s talk about wrongful termination. The other day I was fired in the middle of the day without any warning. My colleagues called me because they were confused on why the Talent Manager dismissed me from the chat. I didn’t know what they were referring to. So I called my PM to ask what was happening, and she said that she just got off the phone with the TM and said they were terminating my contract on the spot due to me speaking up about micromanaging. I have an offer to do some consulting for a company based out of the UK (I am in the US). The job would not go through a consulting company but would be directly with the company.
