Currently working in Bank with 7+ YOE including 6 yrs in Big4 non-MBA (Masters in Finance). What is the total comp (base+bonus) that I can ask for? What is the general sign on bonus? Thanks in advance

I mean, it’s an interesting thought.
If I am running my own consulting firm, for example, and it’s 1 employee (myself), it’s certainly not diverse. If I hire 1 person, and it’s someone I know, or someone I fit in with (similar type of person), it’s not diverse still. But I don’t think anyone would have a problem with a two person firm being two “bro-y latinos” (my profile).
What about a three person firm of similar characters? 4? 10? When does it become a problem to have similar characters?
If you continue to hire only one type of person, it will eventually inhibit your ability to hire the best candidate. I definitely evaluate companies I'm interviewing with to see if there is diversity. I don't want to join a company that I'm not sure I can advance in.

I agree. While beneficial, It seems uniquely American, and maybe Western European
I’m curious , do Indian or Chinese or Mexican businesses strive for a diverse workforce?
My company is diverse, but that happened organically. I chose the best candidates, and some of those best candidates happened to be gay, black, latina etc. basically representative of the community where we work.
If my business was in Vermont, or Miami, the makeup of the workforce would be different.

Many “diversity” decisions are obvious decisions. If you’re selling in a particular community, it helps to have people who know that community. Getting a diverse candidate may or may not be the best move there. The problem is diversity for the sake of diversity. As someone else said, if I’m going for an emergency medical procedure, I want the best doctor who handles that, regardless of that person’s race. My wife’s OB is from Haiti and we chose him because he’s awesome, not because he’s Haitian. Making the choice because of his race would have been frankly stupid.
The issue is that the vast majority of hiring power within corporations lie with one specific demographic (just look at Congress). It wouldn't be so bad if the racial and gender breakdown at higher levels matched the overall population.
For example:

Huh, ey1, have you seen COVID data around minority communities? Health care professionals are sometimes not trusted in those communities due to just this issue - all white/majority white doc offices have historically treated people of color and their pain levels differently, leading to huge mistrust.
Want data points? Look at the death rates of pregnant women of color vs white women. It’s something like 4 times higher, pretty statistically significant. So yeah, women of color might just want another person of color as their doctor rather than the white male who has had every advantage to get that title of “the best” and that decision would be backed up by data. If a hospital serves people of color, they should have doctors available who are from those communities to build trust and diversity of perspective of the issues that impact a total health picture.
I think groups that have "women" or "mommy" in their names make people who don't identify themselves as such feel less welcome. Even if you say allies welcome, your allies may still be a little concerned that they may not fit in. It's human instinct to group together similar things (people included). I'm not asking anyone to stop doing that - just recognize it when you're brain is doing it subconsciously. (I self-identify as a woman and a mom - I'm not trying to attack any group.)
I'm not asking anyone to stop putting "woman" or "mommy" in the name of any group - just recognize that it's a natural thing for us to put similar people in the same groups. There is no right or wrong about this - just how we are as humans.
Okay !
