I used a referral to apply to some financial analyst roles. I like how recruiters are willing to personally decline you which opens a dialogue on criticism. I was given resources on improving resumes and interview skills. It seems my resume is in good shape according to the recruiter but I can’t seem to land an interview. Is there anything else left besides a referral and a good resume to get through? I feel like being from the east coast applying to west coast roles is a factor

Location doesn’t matter. They relocate people all the time. Especially right now with WFH until September minimum. Honestly, so many people apply that you might just not be at the top in terms of experience that fit the current job openings. Or there may be internal transfers first. There’s a million reasons why, like with any job. The referral is always your best bet.

Experience could be what is stopping you. You may not have the experience that google is looking for. The only real way to figure that out is by talking to people at google (not the recruiter) in similar roles

Normally if a referral gets rejected without a phone interview, either the resume doesn’t have the required skills and experience on the JD, or it didn’t meet some criteria the recruiter or hiring manager has, or there are too many strong candidate in the pipeline. The first one should not be too hard to tell. PM me if you want me to take a look at your resume and the JD.

Applied to a couple product manager positions with companies I was very excited about. Received rejection emails from 2 within a couple days of applying. Any advice? Hey there! Currently practicing for case interviews and was wondering if anyone here would have some tips on how to improve numeracy? I'm at my third live case and I never seem to get the approach right - I get a brain fog and just dont know where to start or how to find the formula. So it's not so much about mental math, but more about algebra and finding the right formula.

Starting a short consulting period with a seed stage start-up. If the consulting period goes well, I’ll get a leadership role. I’m trying to figure out what hours team members generally work (8am to...8pm? earlier/later?). Is this something I can directly ask without coming off as lazy? I want the role but have a tendency to overwork and I’m trying to be more balanced.
