I went back to a law firm after an in-house gig. Made partner and then a year later returned to in-house. I think it depends on your situation and preference, but I learned that I prefer in-house.
I went back to the same firm because the prior in-house gig was not as advertised and the job security wasn’t there. The firm made me an income partner after a few years back but the work-life balance and the support just wasn’t there for my practice. I am now working primarily in an area of law that I really enjoy with less stress. Just something that I needed to do at this point in my life.
Have been considering the same thing.
Been there, done that. Can’t wait to get bacn in-house. It’s a thrill and you get a wide range of work. But The value proposition just isn’t there after you’re done accounting for hours.
More money, more diversity and volume of work. I’d gotten stagnate at a small business. It was the right move to make on paper, but in hindsight i probably would have stayed. I miss having uninterrupted vacation time!
Have this very same question!
