Spironolactone! I also stopped BC and spiro, tretinoin, and facials help the most
Agreed! Spironolactone is awesome. Also use Dapsone to zap random breakouts.
Meee! 😩
Did it happen? Yes.
Broke down and went to derm. Had to change my products as what previously worked no longer did.
Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide were added to my regimen and that worked.
Off the pill now for nine years and no issues.
Yeah my skin changed dramatically when I went off it. Differin adaplene worked for me otherwise I would’ve gone to the derm for help
Went off birth control a few months ago after being on them for like 10 years. Nothing happened. I think my skin just grew up.
I got on the pill for acne & was on it for 3 years. Got off it almost a year ago and my skin is actually better than it was on the pill.
- eat a balanced diet with gut healthy foods like probiotics, prebiotics, vegetables
- cut out nightshade vegetables (I learned these can literally give people acne and I was eating peppers daily… my skin has been so clear since not eating peppers)
- tretinoin 2-3 times a week
- vitamin C toner, color correction, moisturizer and sunscreen every morning & alternating nights not doing tretinoin (minus sunscreen at night)
- hydration!!!! Coconut water for electrolytes
You might get a breakout or two while your natural hormones kick in but it’s temporary! You got this
I really appreciate this lengthy response 🥹 I am wondering if my skin will also improve off the pill. My skin still breaks out now so I’m worried it’ll be even worse once I’m off it.
I’ve been on it for so long I’d just ideally like to go off of it for good and your insight was very encouraging. Thank you for this!!
Speaking of birth control & hormones - I am looking for a few women to use a case study for hormone support. I am in the process of launching a new service for women and am testing different methods of delivery. If you are interested in learning more about supporting your hormones please let me know and I will have you on board! I am not soliciting anything - this is a a free opportunity to help both you and me. Like this, comment or message me if you are interested!
My skin actually got better when I came OFF of birth control. My mood did too.
Two words cover up
Try tretenoin ointment gets rid of zits over night but needs perscriptiob
I took birth control for 5 months, the first 3 were fine but the last 2 almost ruined my life. I ended up in the hospital with a stroke scare and the doctors told me if I continue taking them I would have a real stroke. After that, any mood swings/acne/tiredness I thought I would have after stopping BC seemed like nothing so you will be OK.
