You will be promoted when you are ready. If you are doing SM work as an M2/M3 im sure you can get SM after year 3. Nobody is going to know if an M1 is ready for SM until the time comes. Best to focus on doing a good job as manager before planning for SM.
Mate sure your coach and partners on engagements (especially where you may excel) know of your goal to be SM in X time frame. Then ensure you’re performing. If it doesn’t come competitors are often on the look out for talent. Or have new great experience to go to another firm. Stopped worrying about my move to partner and just enjoyed myself a bit! Life is too short to get tangled up in the politics and ‘hard work’ for partners who really only care (ultimately) about their back pocket / purse!

Also first and foremost take care of your health so you feel your best and in return perform your best. Definitely recommend Lyra it’s free and they can help you out of your burnout rut.
