I was just diagnosed with RA. Do you, or someone you know or worked with have experiences with this or other affecting chronic disease while working as a vet? If so, how do you make it work? What specifics can I ask for from a clinic to accommodate?

Oh man, this has got to be so tough as a veterinary surgeon. One of the surgeons at my clinic has pretty bad sciatica, but I don't think that's anything like RA. She typically has to take breaks more often to stretch and we have some ice packs and foam rollers that she can use ot relieve pain. I would think about what assistances you do need and ask for them specifically

Take breaks when you need to. I highly recommend adding turmeric and ginger to your diet. Don't put to much pressure on your self to do more than you can handle

I know someone. She was able to make it work by managing her work schedule and taking frequent breaks throughout the day to rest. She also asked her clinic to provide her with a stool to sit on while she was working with animals, and they were very accommodating.

Interesting. Let’s see if the uptick In cases continues to drive an uptick in hospitalizations and then in fatalities. Depends on how many of the cases are incidental or in very young people not prone to severe cases. But either way, look at the hospital capacity utilization figures! This is the untold story. Were we bending the curve to avoid unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals, or were we bending the curve to buy time for treatments and vaccine, or just to slow fatalities?
