I was offered a remote role, but the company is trying to anchor my salary to my local zip code. They told me the position pays a $110k base if I live in San Francisco, but since I live in rural Pennsylvania, they’re scaling it back to $80k because my cost of living is lower. It drives me insane that my compensation is based on my mortgage payment rather than the revenue I generate. Why should the company get a discount on my performance just because I chose a cheaper place to live?

This is common practice across the board, and companies will absolutely adjest when someone moves. Your focus should be on whether or not you are getting a fair wage for the labor market where you live. You are manufacturing undue resentment.

Does the role require you to be in office at either location? If not, then push back and if your quota is going to be adjusted based on where you live. If not, then tell them you don't accept their reasoning as valid.

I’m currently almost topping out on my salary at current company with no opportunity to progress. Can make good money for a while here, but new challenge is interesting to me. Struggling accepting I may have to cut my salary 10k-20k in order to do that…

Advice on applying to PM jobs with 1yr APM experience?

I’ve been working as an APM at my current company for 1yr, and have basically been doing the work of a full blown PM the entire time. I’ve lead several features from start to finish and made sure to mention in my resume that I have been doing everything a regular PM does. Has anyone ever hired an APM for a PM role or done it yourself? Any tips? Advice?

Quarterly quota (per quarter): 107k
Quarterly bonus (per annum): 23k
130% Annual bonus = 11.5k
"23% commission on quota minus base": 37k (don't understand this)
"Proposed 23% commission on 150% quota minus base": 86.5k
Sales commission threshold per month: 22k
OTE: 122k
Cost/Sales: 28%

That base salary is lower than my previous base by a significant amount by 32.7%
