Absolutely not, why do more work for no change in title or pay? So tired of companies doing this. Know your worth. When you’re worth your salt, they’ll work to keep you happy. And if they don’t, they’re not a company worth working for. Stand firm!!
I applaud you for this! This is hard for some of us, me included and I probably wouldn’t have done that but that doesn’t make me right - just dumb! lol
If they are not going to give you more pay, stand your ground. That is their way of making you do more and not giving you anything in return. I think you absolutely did the right thing.
NO a real paralegal is hard work and not to be taken lightly. What I dislike about people and attorneys is they think Yeah, my secretary can be a parale with no training or going to school because they don't want to oay the higher wage and title that comes with being a paralegal. That's why the do it trying to get over. I am paralegal with degrees and many years of work, not that you have to have that but you need training and depending what law it is, you may need some college. Don't let them push you into it, with no salary increase.
See if them are willing to work out a plan towards the title and salary increase where you gradually take on the responsibility over a period of time. But get it in writing. That way, you'll have a written agreement and can hold them to it to get your title and/or salary increase.
Some companies have tuition assistance. I would consider it and then offer s proposal to them. Maybe state you'd be interested in working part time and going to school for your degee. If they don't offer tuition assistance and keep pressuring you change might be necessary.
