When you ask the intern to take meeting notes

Hi guys :) Glad to join fishbowl and this community. Guys I have an offer of 14.41 ctc from a big 4 (11 is fixed).
Technology-Microsoft Dynamics 365(I am a functional consultant in SCM and HR; Relevant exp: 3 yrs & Total exp: 4 yrs).
My interviews in IBM are done and I am waiting for the salary discussion with HR.
What is the likely offer that I am going to get? Any idea? (My expectation is 16.5 lpa ctc). I will adjust my expectations as per replies here.
Any response is highly appreciated :)

OP - it’s 100% the money. if they don’t hire for an open position by the end of their fiscal year, they risk losing it. chances are, they’ve been looking a while and haven’t found anyone, and are now getting down to the wire and want to bring someone on.
the fact they want to hire you is good, so i wouldn’t stress. not setting yourself up for failure. getting hired and getting the opportunity to prove yourself is more than 90% of the people around here get.
I agree - seems shady. I assume it’s a challenging or ultra demanding client, and they to bring someone in before the rest of the existing account team crumbles..
I’d trust your gut.
If you're in the US there should be no problem with you giving 2 weeks notice to current place and still being hired at new place by Dec 31, 2018. Do not under any circumstances agree to abruptly leave current place without proper 2 weeks notice, that's a strategic mistake.
They’re going to lose the open position in 2019. Tell them you’ll take the job but want 3 extra weeks of vacation in 2018. I.e a 2019 start but technically you’re on the books for 2018.
It’s not a red flag to me. If anything, they’re very aware of what’s up
Ae1 could be on the money. Also sometimes finance people will look at simplified metrics such as revenue per head as at the end of the year, and if they hadn't had that position filled it would appear more profitable to never fill it
See if you can meet in the middle and let them have their books but also give you a 5 day unpaid break in between.
CD3 hit the nail on the head
CD1, CD3, Head 1 all nail it. They must have a live person against that slot by Dec 31 in order to fulfill a client contract that calls for xy FTE’s against the business. There is no doubt that it seems a bit desperate on their part, but if everything else checks out, I wouldn’t let bother me. However, do you lose bonus at current shop if you quit this week? If so, cover yourself with a signing bonus.
Note: this is a credible/big agency but it seems like theyre really desperate to fill the role and have someone on board and i wanna know why... just seems weird
@ae1 @head thanks for the input. So accepting the position would be setting myself up for failure right? Theyre offering more money and it IS a large agency doing great work ... conflicted.
They need you and are desperate to hire by end of year. So you have the leverage. Ask for more money and/or vacation. Tell them you prefer to give some buffer to your existing job, and if they need you to start asap then you’d prefer to make up for it with more $$/vacay
@MM1 - i would’ve thought so, but my team is literally going through the same thing right now. we’ve been looking for a qualified candidate for a couple months, and finally found one. if we don’t hire by the end of our fiscal, we lose the position.
and there’s no reason that it would be a red flag with us. we have a steady client and our group is solid. we’re just picky who we hire.
^ Solid point on the bonus situation in principle but it makes me chuckle that a Managing partner level person is talking to an AE about potentially missing a bonus paid out in Q1 of 2019 or a Christmas bonus over the last week of Dec. Even if there was one, I'm sure OP is missing out on no more than, what, 500-1000 bucks?? Lol. OP, focus on negotiating a meaningful base salary increase and benefits (compared to your current ones) - especially if you're a woman! And if you're seriously considering joining the new place. Keep us posted and good luck!
I agree with Account Director. Not leaving two weeks can be a mistake
Should also clarify it was a day after the first in person interview*.
Red flag
Is this s new client to the agency? More and more I’m seeing guarantees of new positions being filled by X date as an onboarding metric in new biz wins. Still shady and putting you in this position is not indicative of realistic expectations or treating employees well.
CD1 I’m sorry but that way of thinking is so myopic, and likely isn’t the reality here
You could negotiate for some extra vacay time for next year, since you didn’t get your buffer this year?
