Privacy if the pay is the same. Compliance is super general and it can be overwhelming if not well compensated. Also depends on if you have a team supporting you and if they’re good.
Exactly. Team would be the driving force behind my decision. I’m not doing either without a good team or the resources to hire a good team.
I think it depends on your long term goals.
For me, I’m privacy counsel and if I had the choice, obviously privacy because I love the topic and it’s an ever evolving field where I get to try new things. I don’t feel pigeonholed into one thing.

Healthcare pays low in compliance.
Chief Privacy Officer would be easier to pivot.

I would love to have the opportunity to work exclusively in healthcare privacy so I would probably lean towards the CPO. But I’d be more influenced by the company, reporting relationships, compliance infrastructure, resources, etc. I’d take the CCO job if the circumstances were better.
Healthcare is different than healthtech. I use to run a couple privacy programs at hospital systems, and although altruistic, the bureaucracy and terrible benefits ultimately closed that chapter of my life. Budget is also stupidly low for privacy offices in hospitals.
If it were me I’d like to work for the health tech company as long as the financials are solid and that they are ethical.
