If I like public accounting but just don’t like the B4 environment and hours, does it make sense to move to a smaller regional firm? Would be looking to switch from audit to a more niche service line. Part of me is scared about losing better exit opportunities after downsizing, but I’m kind of tired of being worn out by work all of the time. Anyone do this? I see mostly B4 to B4 jumps at the senior level these days, so don’t know if there’s something I’m missing.

How is the FDD presence for BDO/GT/RSM FDD in the South/Southwest? How is the workload and compensation compared to the Big 4?

I went through six rounds of interviews including putting together a 30 minute presentation which I presented to the whole team. The whole process took about six weeks. I turned down another lead position at a different company waiting. After all that they told me that hiring for this role was on hold until further notice. At the end of the day it’s business, but I am left feeling like I wasted my time (and theirs.)Totally confused and disheartened by this process. Anyone else experiencing this?
