If you are a Supervisor, Manager or Director level at the Federal government, would that experience and time translate to the private sector if the job duties are similar?

Potentially, though it highly depends on the industry.

Take wall street as an example--the financial regulators are a revolving door to wall street with people making lateral moves back and forth all the time.

Other industries, you're more likely to take a step down in level but a step up in comp. You're far more likely to make a lateral going private to fed.

A former colleague was a CTO for a mid market company and came to the feds as a CTO. Another left as a director at the US Mint and took an approximately SM level role at a manufacturing firm. Another left State as a financial management SES and went to industry as a M level SME.

I manage Youtube channels and do all strategy, planning, talent management, rework content for socials, reporting, graphic design, + a bunch of other stuff. Do you think I should be something like Video Content Manager? A Strategist maybe? My company doesn't have career pathing & I think they'd be happy to keep giving me more work with the same pay. One of my frustrations with myself (writing it out here so I can work on it) is that I will print out something that I need, such as a traffic collision report. I will read it without actually reading it. This results in spending time without actually retaining info. Does this happen to anyone else? I’ve found that I can actually focus when I truly force myself, but often this happens after I’ve discovered an error or an important piece of information that I should have noticed earlier.

Is there a website that shares announcements of recent contract wins by federal contractors across all federal agencies?

Sometimes the leadership does not even inform you on the status of a submitted proposal unless we win the work. I get why they are doing it but it would be great if there was an external source/website that would share this info instead of us waiting around to hear from them.

Do you think it’s bad form/ unprofessional to flip badges when a contract is lost? I’m not sure if it’s just leadership bullying, but they’re discouraging staff to take other offers from the winning company.
