I always go for salary. The title means nothing.
Titles vary so much between companies. One place will call you a manager, the next will call you an associate, for roughly the same work. For me, it's all about money
If advancement in career, get the title, work under it for 1-2 years, then jump to a company which will compensate you accordingly under that new title.
If it's solely for growing your career then yeah sure title. But the main reason I'm trying to grow my career is to earn more, so I'd rarely negotiate just one or the other.
I’ll always negotiate my salary because a very important title at one company doesn’t mean diddly at the next. When I see a roll like “process improvement consultant“ at one company and then I pull up the actual role and it’s truly an analyst position, that’s the problem. If that role pays $115,000 starting salary and I am making 120 K in the roll title doesn’t matter salary does. A title doesn’t pay my bills the salary does.

Salary - not even a question. Dollars speak louder than titles
