OP: to answer your question because you asked. I am summarizing the “German” thread.
Many trump voters (not necessarily trump supporters) on this bowl are not focusing on trump vs harris as individuals or what they may or may not have said, partisan biased fact checking, new headlines etc. Both have character flaws.
We are focusing primarily on policies. The democrat policies have been a disaster for Americans at the national and state level. The hope is that despite Trump’s character challenges (and harris is no better imho), the general direction will change and get back on the right track. Details are in the German thread if you are interested in understanding.
Any time someone says "the Democrat (sic) policies have been a disaster" I know what TV station is on 24/7 in their household.
If you simultaneously believe that climate change is a hoax but that the Democrats have a hurricane machine that they use to target Republican areas, then probably no amount of new information will dissuade you from voting for your cult leader.

No. They are bad faith arguments and Pence COS and others coming out to say they are patently false. The soldiers sister said Trump has been nothing but helpful, etc. Bill Barr said it best: voting for Trump is Russian roulette and voting for Harris is national suicide.

The crap with “socialist country”… what should that even be. Even the democratic “wet dreams” would still leave the US far from most civilised European nations. We don’t have socialism here in Europe, this is just a scare word that triggers stupid behavior in most of the populace
Every dictator in the history always had majority support from their countrymen before the dictator started showing their true colors and started acting on their plan of genocide, ethnic cleansing, killings of opposition leaders and their party cadres.

I do find the arguments made to be fallacious in a number of areas:
cherry picking an example of a “law abiding” citizen that breaks the law - even if that number is 100 around the country - is NOT the general situation.
One-sidedness an example of the bakers freedom of speech/religious beliefs being violated - when we all know if a business discriminated against Christians, white people, heterosexuals - all hell would break loose
Slippery slope - any controls on guns at all lead to all guns being confiscated. The data worldwide and here in the US simply does NOT support that - NFA laws on suppressors and automatic weapons are examples - been around for years, no slippery slope
These arguments all come from a position of fear that is propagated by media, NRA and other non-objective sources
In the German thread all the Trump supporters admitted they were embarrassed to vote for Trump and the rationalized away their decision with various versions of “I’m scared” and “I think it will give me money”. Not a single one suggested they thought Trump would make a good president. So with that in mind, who cares about a little fascism?
Voting for a “joy economy” sure does sound good. Whatever in the hell that is.

So which is it, Trump hires the best people and then they figure out that he’s unfit for office or everyone Trump hired he had to fire because they were so horrible? Either Trump can’t hire competent staff or Trump is a fascist and unfit for office.

When democrats had the choice in 2020, Harris peaked at 15%, ended at 3%, 6th place before dropping out. Even democrats did not feel she was remotely qualified. Biden took her as VP only on DEI qualifications (the reason he provided himself) and as an insurance against impeachment…
What has she done since to be so much more capable? Managed the border crisis? Clarity on policies? Or just steal the nomination using backroom deals orchestrated by Biden’s puppeteers? Great exercise in democracy. “C’mon man”…

I don’t disagree that Kamala might not have been the nominee if Biden had just said 15 months ago that he wasn’t going to run for reelection. I wish Biden had done that. But Kamala was the VP for the past 4 years. Just like George HW Bush. So, she was a prosecutor, state attorney general, senator and vice president. Those seem like pretty good qualifications for president. Probably as qualified as anyone who has been president in our history. Way more qualified than a draft dodging failed businessman game show host fraudster rapist suffering from dementia.
