I’m 26, worked in investment management for 3 years and saved about $81k. I don’t feel fulfilled at all. Feeling pretty depressed lately and incredibly lost and really want a change. I feel behind my peers who seem to have it all figured out so neatly. Not sure whether to go back to school, just find a new company, or take time off to travel.

Why do you not feel fulfilled?

I can see that. Maybe it is because of the environment you are working in, or perhaps you aren't being challenged enough either.

Definitely if you have the oportunity, take time off to travel. Depending on your spending, you have enough saved to experience the world for 1, 2, or even 3 years off. You can always grab odd jobs if needed to meet different people in the same position. You can also develop new skills and try to figure out what fulfills you.

You might just need to recharge your batteries. If you can travel, do it. You could also go back to school or find a new company as you also suggested but I think it will only make the matter worse.

You are young enough to change gears completely if you so choose. I'd suggest exploring your options and seeing what sparks your interest. In the meantime, take up a new hobby or do something you're passionate about. This can help you fill that void where your job has you feeling unfulfilled. Oh, and P.S. - I'd be willing to bet your peers haven't all figured it out, either. They're just good at hiding it. Focus on you, not them. You'll find your way.

Take the time to travel and give yourself some down time! You are still so young and sounds like you've been working hard, probably struggling with burn out as well. After you've taken some time off, then you can start to think about your next move and remember that its never too late to make a career shift. In my experience, taking time off helps to channel some inspiration and you might even discover your new direction while on vacation, but focus on you in the mean time.

You don’t feel fulfilled for the role you are in, that won’t change if you take a vacation and come back because there’s something deep about the work itself not a short term break that is the issue. I think a career change will help and you will feel great that atleast you tried in whatever that change is

First time expecting mom! 8 weeks pregnant and absolutely dying. I’m exhausted beyond belief and nauseated alll day everyday. Some days I feel better than others, some days I’m dry heaving into the toilet for a few hours. How have y’all managed this!? Any tricks to get thru the work day? Should I take time off? Hi. I’m an exempt employee (my boss’s only W-2 employee) and have two weeks of PTO. He’s making me use that for my physical therapy and doctors appointments, and I just got diagnosed with something related to my I jury (not work related) that could qualify me for temporary disability. How do I approach this and can I get fired for this? I have to take care of my body! And he’s insanely rigid, cheap, stubborn, and at this point I don’t even think he cares about me. I’m a very hard worker!

I work for a company with a pretty generous PTO policy and a mostly remote flex policy (4 days a month in office if within 75 miles of the building). One thing I’m wondering if there is a way to help us I get the “I’m taking a mental health day” call out regularly which causes a strain on the rest of the team because we were unable to prepare like we would with pre-planned PTO. Any ideas of things I can do as a manager to encourage pre-planned PTO instead of these call outs?

Hey fishes,
Regarding the summer time 2k reimbursement I have a few doubts here… suppose I enter x colleagues name as attendee and enter amount as 2k.
1) Will 1000 be reimbursed to both or 2k directly to me.
2) And also can the same person x enter another bill for 2k and will be reimbursed same amount.
3) Does the date need to be same for both of us to reimburse.
Any insight would be appreciated 🙌🏼
