Does anyone here work for Silicon Valley Bank? They recently acquired Boston Private. I’m a candidate for a job at Boston Private. Wondering if SVB is planning layoffs in the near term at BP? Also, does anyone know the anticipated benefits to be rolled out from SVB as the parent company? Specifically interested in health insurance providers. Thanks in advance for any information! I have been given a verbal offer of 145k base for a Sr. Associate role as Data Analytics Lead. The offer doesn’t come with any kind of bonuses or stocks.
I have a Masters and 5+ years of exp and my current comp is 115.5k + approx 5k bonus + ~20k in stocks (yearly refreshes) which makes my total current comp to 140k.
Is it worth taking the offer for increase in just the base?

I just spoke with someone last night that was telling me how she quit her job at went back to school at 45 to become an occupational therapist. Something she felt she needed to fullfil in her lifetime.
Go back! I'm 59 and have accepted Humana's ERP. If I went back to school now I would finish at retirement and I'm not interested in that at all.
I wish I went back when I was in my 40s so I could spend the rest of my career doing something I loved.
Best of luck to you.
Depends on the job market for the new career. Can go to school part-time while working?
Have you explored other career tracks in insurance? I started off in claims which I think is one of the most thankless jobs in any industry. I made my way to underwriting and eventually risk management. My claim background has been invaluable in all those positions. From experience those areas of insurance have been better for my mental health than had I stayed in claims. Hope you are able to find what you are looking for!
I'm 40 and I have considered the same thing, but my fear is that a new entry level position would be such a hit to my income. I can't afford to make less money, even if it is more fulfilling otherwise. 😕 Starting over seems so risky for me. But if you don't have that same issue, I say go for it!
