I’m a 2010 grad working in house. Healthcare industry. I’m fairly well compensated for IHC but don’t love my job.

I am talking to 2 different firms about SC roles. One is a mid AL100, the other is AL200. Both in Midwest. Billable rate would be $400-500/hr. Neither firm has given me any sense of potential comp range yet as discussions are early. I’m trying to get an idea of what might be reasonable before I invest a lot more time continuing to talk with them. Anyone with insight they can share?

I have 2 offers one from ZS 8lpa + bonus + food wifi +elrp+ gradutiy and pf = 11.5 lpa

Other from LTI 10.7fixed+ annual bonus+ graduity + pf = 12 lpa

ZS is convenient travelling wize LTI is little far.

Anyone think working from home becoming the norm will have a downward impact on salaries? Anyone impacted by geographic adjustments? Salaries are generally mapped to regions at pwc. How do I know Big-Law is not for me?

I am a first year who just started a couple of months ago and I am literally confused all the time. I did some small work for two partners and they loved it, so put me on new deals but the mid levels I am staffed with absolutely hate the work I do. One said the work I did was laughable. I felt bed because I spent over 25 hours on this. I wouldn’t be very bothered but the other Associates in my class are killing it. So I just feel dumb all the time.

What does it mean when a partner gives associates, especially junior associates, origination credit? Practically, I don't think it makes a difference except maybe for bonuses, but I'm wondering if there's any deeper meaning than extending gratitude?

What does venture counsel mean at WSGR? I just lateraled and am working with one - he seems to be doing all the junior work for the team so am confused?

Senior attorneys at v100, how common is it for attorneys who start at small firms to lateral to biglaw? Have you worked with any? Conventional wisdom is always that if you don’t start there it’s hard to “trade up”. My coworker and I just did it to two different great v30 firms, and I’m wondering if it’s really that uncommon? Just out of curiosity. We’re not special counsel with special niche skills or anything, just associates. Pitfalls to beware? Positives?

Should I take more initiative? It’s my stub year and I’m getting worried. My hours have been super low the past two months, I’m talking like maybe billing 3-4 hours a day and billing no hours on multiple days. I ask for work but the tasks I get don’t require a lot of time. Should I be reaching out more?

If you take vacation, is the onus on you to make up that billable time? If so, how do you enjoy long vacations?

What percent do you think big law firms collect on large class action lawsuits? On average, assuming it is all on a contingency basis.

Corporate or litigation, which is easier to reach billable hour requirement? In other words, which is easier to bill a lot annually? Comparably speaking.

Recent lateral (6ish months). On pace for 2000. Partners keep asking me if I’m liking the quality/type of work I’m getting and telling me to let them know if I feel overwhelmed by my (very manageable) workload. Am I crazy or do they think I’m going to leave for another firm or something six months in?
