I'm a big 4 audit senior focused in wealth and asset management. I want to eventually become a controller at a company that's NOT a fund. What are some ways I can become a controller? I am planning to jump to a Financial Reporting or consolidations role at a public company. Is this a good move? Right now I'm burned out as hell but ur boi can and will grind. Please share me some of your experiences. Thank you so much

Avoid fund accounting at all cost and you should be fine.

like

Why is that and would it be better with a first-tier fund? Thanks!

Rotate to BCM

BCM gives you sox experience but I was wondering more in private industry. I'm done auditing lol

Don’t fund controllers make a lot of money ? Why do you not want to be a fund controller ?

Funds and complex financial product isn't really my thing. If it's a Private equity focused on private investments that's better. Also funds come and go in hedge funds and on private equity. Want something that has less of a volatility

How is a fund controller different than a controller at a company?

Thoughts on the "fake it til you make it" mentality in career growth? Regarding a Front End Developer role.

I passed the HR screen, did an interview with who would be my) supervisor and the team lead, and am now doing a coding test.

I am familiar enough with the language (React) and pushing updates to Git in order to complete the test, but I'm afraid when I do a panel with the team to review my design, I'll end up making a fool of myself.

I've never been so excited yet so nervous for a role.
