I am a graduating student who just got offered 65k for a solution analyst role at Deloitte USDC (Data Engineering Focus). From reading previous posts it seems to be a lot of negative thoughts surrounding the USDC, but straight out of college is this a good opportunity?
I'm looking to gain as much experience as possible out of college in an IT role and wondering what exit opportunities may be in place a year or two down the road if there is little/slow progression.

Black women made the career switch from corporate America to entrepreneurship during Covid-19. While it appears entrepreneurship was deemed a necessity, Black women were the largest group of new business owners closely followed by Latina women. These businesses have high growth potential but why is access to finding still a barrier?
Share your thoughts on why.

I worked several years in big law before going in-house. My first advice would be try to get assigned on matters in different areas: You will be working more as a generalist in-House, so broad experience is certainly valuable. In my current role I am benefiting a lot from the fact that as lawyer I did not only work on merger filings but also cartel investigations, abuse of dominance, competition law compliance, follow on damages litigation. Broad experience enables you to cope with all kind of questions that business might address you with. In my impression they hired me exactly because I could highlight this broader experience during the interviews.
Also, can only encourage you to follow this path - I really enjoy my role in-house and actually enjoy it a lot more than my previous role as an associate in big law.
Thank you! I really appreciate the insight, and it matches well with my desire to try a bit of everything in the meantime.
If you don't mind a few more questions: what did the transition from big law to in-house look like? There doesn't seem to be a lot of job listings for antitrust, and I have yet to see one that requires less than 5 years of experience. I think 4ish years is about what I'd like to spend in big law, but is that enough for opportunities to start opening up?
Great - I can only encourage you to try a bit of everything. In my experience if you proactively address this with your seniors, they will try to enable you working on different matters. Requires some persistence from your side as well because it might not always be convenient for your seniors to train you on different subjects.
Regarding your further question: I moved in-house after ~2 1/2 years, indeed quite early. 4 years should be fine, would also encourage you to try applying even if you’re a bit below the required PQE. Also agree that there are not a lot of job listings for antitrust, however antitrust is a specialized field thus there will also be less applicants compared to eg employment law or the like. In-house antitrust expertise is only beneficial to companies of a certain size. So, given that there might only be few „chances“ available, would strongly encourage you to try to take these even if your PQE does not exactly fit in with the job offering.
