No it’s not but doesn’t mean you can’t get better at cases, prepare more, etc
Two things:
1) how did you get in here to start with?
2) It’s not any easier to get a full time compared to an internship because you recruit interns with the prospective that they will be full time hires at graduation. So you’re really looking for the same thing. That being said, it might be easier in the sense of having more positions to fill. I’m not familiar with Bain or bcg but I know from my time on recruiting, we usually have about equal number of applicants for both intern and full time, but significantly less spots to fill for interns. Usually like a fifth of the amount of FT spots we have.
If it helps, I got knocked out at last interview round with BCG. I went to Booz / Strategy& and have since done well. Just because you can’t make it to MBB, doesn’t mean you can’t have a successful consulting career.
I’d just encourage you to have perspective and remember that getting into those firms isn’t a be all end all. Relax and enjoy the end of college. If you made it that far in those interviews, you’re clearly smart and motivated and you’re going to get a good job. Not the end of the world, chill out. If anything you’re going to regret not enjoying the present phase of life you’re in when you’re my age.
Don’t Worry man, way more full time spots than intern spots at bcg. I was in your shoes not too long ago (but didn’t even get final rounds) Just keep practicing cases, keep your grades up, and stay positive :)
@C1 you're right, a job isn't worth getting stressed over. Thanks.
Yes they will be more spots. But, there will be more competition. The same consulting bound people. Ibankers realized banking sucked. Industry turned consulting. And your genius art history 36 ACT folks want a full time job types. Maybe your school may not have all these groups, but I don’t want you be blindsided:)
@D1 interned in consulting which is how I got here. Thanks for the advice.
OP, agree with others in terms of standards being the same but there being fewer ACI spots vs FT spots.
In terms of what your chances are in the FT round, it depends what your feedback was in the ACI round. Some things you can “fix” and improve on, and the firm is more than happy to give you another chance to do so (in FT recruiting).
