I'm an introvert and love consulting and my current job. On my projects, I've good relationships with people in my team. While I progress in my career, I worry if I can be a good talesman. Thoughts?

I had the same question and talked with my Partner about it. He said that he actually wanted to get me into more meetings with clients pursuing work. His reasoning is that these CFOs are inundated with consult’s pitches with a lot of BS. Because of my nature I come across very brief, succinct, and honest with not trace of BS. So far it’s worked out well but I don’t have that much experience .

What’s a talesman

Sorry. I meant Salesman

I am an introvert but because of my work ethic and my deliverables, my clients trusted me a lot that they would always ask me what they should do next. So far I have had an 90% success rate in getting them to sign an additional contract. Been working for 4 years in this field

How does one most effectively make the transition into management from an Individual Contributor?

I've been an individual contributor for 4 years in Tech, have 8 years of experience total. I'm finding it difficult to make the management transition despite having management experience, performing beyond expectations, and having a genuine passion for enablement and development.

I'd appreciate any success stories or pointers you can offer in regards to this transition.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

I’ve been looking and seems like my skills don’t transfer well or maybe I don’t have the corporate language?

Hi HR Professionals! I am revising our current employment application form. Per SHRM, I was just curious if any HR Professionals completely removed the following fields: social security number, recommend salary, graduation dates, military discharge info, race, maiden name like (Ms. Mrs. Ms), & criminal history questions. I was just curious what other Employers/HR Professional have done. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
