Hello! Question for anyone that works at Google if I have hit my 3 applications per 90 days can I still apply to an additional role through a referral link? Or will I have to wait until the 90 days is up? Actually asking for a friend that doesn’t have this app 😊 thanks in advance for any insight.

I’m in industry now and my head of tax makes more than 99% of partners make unless they are in leadership positions and I bet he works 60% as much as they do. If you can find a good company it can be as profitable with better WLB. But it will really depend on the company
I say run with the interview process. See where it takes you.
Definitely go through with interviews. You need to know if it’s something you want instead of a what if. So what, you interview, and you don’t like them, then don’t take the offer if they make it. I know plenty of VP of tax that have moved companies over the years
Like others have said, explore the role. Typically the partner route is more lucrative and “safe”, but I know a handful of SVPs/EVPs of Tax who make $1M+ and then outsource all the hard work to the Big 4 partners that work for them. I doubt that would be the case at a $2B company though.
Generally, the longer you stay in Big 4, the harder it is to get head of tax roles. For top industry roles, recruiters usually look for people with Big 4 and industry leadership experience. If you want to be a head of tax, I’d suggest leaving Big 4 sooner rather than later.
Are you in big 4?
I do have management experience in industry as well. I was director of income tax at my last industry job. Was kind of thinking MD title in public would round out my resume.
If you are thinking that by staying you’d have a MD —> F500 head of tax path, I think you should count that out in your analysis.
Almost all F500 head of tax come either internally or from other smaller company head of tax.
