I had interviewed for an internship position at EY for technology consultant program for summer 2022 and got a call where they extended an offer. I wanted to know if I can defer the internship offer to fall 2022 or a later start date after summer.
I apologize as I cannot reply to a comment or DM on this platform to anyone, but thanks for your answers in advance.
Hello all,
Would like to know specifically about Queer inclusion at SocGen Societe Generale. What is the attitude of mangers and HRs towards treating LGBTQ identifying candidates? Is company really inclusive or it’s just a lip service? Considering an offer with the company but being an out and proud Queer woman, super anxious and concerned.

100% agree with staff accountant. There’s always people with better hours then you. The reason I hate this question is that people who accepted big 4 or any PA job already know the answer. They just want someone to tell them differently which I can tell you is pointless because there are going to be teams with terrible hours and team with not so terrible hours. As a first year that is not in your control. You can go to into work hating your life or you can go into work with a good attitude and just learn something. That is the only thing you can control
Your life is over. But seriously though I don’t get why people ask about the hours all the time. You already have an idea and whatever people will tell you here isn’t something you don’t already know. Just go in expecting the worse and if you can’t handle it, leave
I ask because I have hope that someone doesnt have horrible hours because if one person doesnt, then there's hope for me.
You should be fine. And after a couple of weeks it won’t seem so tough. My busy seasons consist of work, eating and sleeping...so try to eat healthy and sleep as much as possible so you can do your best. After it’s over, it all returns to normal...you’ll see. And if you decide you don’t like it, at least you tried. Good luck!
Agree with M1, it just depends on so many factors. I have friends who have worked as late as 1am some nights when it got really bad, but I've been on smaller private clients that I never needed to stay later than 6pm. It's all luck of the draw and no one can give you the sigh of relief you're hoping for.
People love to talk about how much they work during busy season, but some really are manageable. While I’ve had some rough busy seasons, last year I worked 60 hrs/week during busy season and rarely went over our required minimum. The team was efficient stayed on track throughout interim which made busy season really smooth
No one made you go into public accounting. There are a lot of benefits, are those benefits important to you? Then change your attitude.
I'm at a smaller middle market firm. The recruiter said it'll be between 50 and 60 hours, but I feel like recruiters always down play the hours
I was between 55 and 60 hours last busy season
My hours are 50-60 too. But the core audit team on my one client works 18 hours days in January/February
Which firm are you with? I think it all depends on firm, size of firm, business line, and if the department/office is staffed properly or short staffed. I’ve been in public accounting for 13 years. Some busy seasons were better than others. Our minimum is 55/hrs per week. Did they give you any indication of hours to expect? On a good note, it doesn’t last forever....
You can’t go into your first busy season with that mentality. You should be excited about learning, it’s your first busy season. And your hours are going to depend a lot on your clients and if they are staffed appropriately. If you don’t have large accelerated filers your busy season hours shouldn’t be crazy, probably between 60 and 70 hour weeks which is not bad. But again, if you tackle it with positivity it won’t be bad at all.
I should also mention that this was for a public accelerated filer
