This is funny because I’m actually on a data science project with Deloitte currently and am having the time of my life.
No ML or DL? You're a wannabe. Not using Databricks? Well get lost son. Nice try.
I will say it is challenging to find a data science project, but they are out there.
If anyone in this thread wants to leverage data science for process transformation check out a field known as process mining, and check out the Deloitte Center for Process Bionics. I joined in November after working in data science insurance, Financial Services, and tech. I really enjoy the work and we could use some more technical talent! We are actively hiring at many levels!
Why would you hone data science / data engineering skills at a consultancy? Don’t be a fool and join actual tech companies.
Technically sound consultants have either left already or are devoting most of their time to selling instead of transitioning skills. You’re not doing yourself any favours by looking there. Besides, consultancies by its very nature is years behind what’s cutting edge.
CS1- You are kinda wrong! Niche consulting firms are actually doing cutting edge work for businesses. Deloitte is not niche, it’s a huge consulting firm that wants to be jack of all trades. All Fortune 500 firms need cutting edge data science and TECH does not consult, they build products and hire data science folks to analyze or run experiments. The problem with Deloitte is that the leadership does not understand data science like niche consulting firms. It’s just another income stream to them.
