Hi all. I am trying to determine if I am being compensated fairly. I am a tax manager (about to start my second year as manager) and have been with EY since staff 1. I was promoted to manager in June 2020 (during covid) and received a 7.5% raise. The class above me has mentioned they received much higher raises during their promotion years. My base salary is now approx. 97K. Any insights would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Quick qstn - I'm receiving HRA of 24075 from my employer but I would like dhow the rent paid as 96k p.a (while filing ITR). Even if I do so, I was only able to get exemption of 24075 from gross. Checking if we can speak to payroll department to increase Actual HRA since I'm actually paying more rent than compared. Will I be able to do so ?Deloitte Newco EY Accenture Genpact KPMG

I would also like to mention, as soon as I logged onto the webex and saw the meeting was being recorded, I grabbed my phone and recorded so when I joined via audio onto the WebEx platform the announcement “this meeting is being recorded” is on my version as well. I had a feeling he would pull this because the conversation did not go as he planned. He thought I would roll over and not fight. But I’m pregnant and need to save my PTO for my maternity so if I have these days to use due to Covid issues, I want to. I work for a healthcare company that prides itself in whole person health and well being- and this is how they treat their employees. It’s sad.
I might send a follow up email to everyone at the meeting, summarizing what was said and what were the agreed upon next steps, as well as ask for the recording again. Important to have a writing trail on this...
Definitely then reply to everyone with you are still waiting on the recording, but in the meantime would like to summarize what was discussed, and then summarize the points. Probably also a good place to put in writing that you are pregnant.
Why is legal involved ? Do you not have an HR department to help resolve the issue ?
Next ? I would updated my LinkedIn profile and resume... collect LinkedIn resumes... network.. read job openings.. I would get ready to do a job search after I had my baby. And I would hold onto my current job until maternity leave was over.
Walking has helped me tremendously! Call me a masochist, my husband and I rescued a dog during the pandemic before our daughter arrives in January and having him is definitely forcing me to get up step away to take him on walks, Which not only assists a bit with stress but also helping with my pregnancy! It’s amazing how walking away can truly save your sanity and allow you to breathe and collect yourself.
Are you actually using the days for Covid related issues i.e. covid tests, childcare fell through, caring for a loved one who ended up with Covid? If not, it does sound like you are trying to take advantage of the system here. These extra days aren’t supposed to be extra vacation, they are supposed to support you if you find yourself in a situation where Covid is impacting you. Just because you are pregnant does not entitle you to use these days for anything you please. I think you are likely fighting a losing battle here.
TIAA - agreed. And I mention that very issues regarding HIPPA on my call with him that he recorded (without my prior permission) that he won’t provide me. And ER is doing NOTHING about getting me the recording at this point.
This is crazy, please let us know how this turns out. Good luck with pregnancy & situation overall.
