Magnesium/Potassium supplement - don’t forget!
Shake shack burger in a lettuce wrap, keto pizza (look up on Reddit /r/keto), butter in your coffee
Didn’t see the second part of your post. I find keto from home is easier. Butter coffee for breakfast, chicken/tuna salad with leafy salad and fatty dressing for lunch, protein and veggies for dinner. Load everything up with MCT oil or butter
I used the caveman keto meal plan to get started. Helps that you’re at home and can prep meals, that was the biggest thing for me. Easier to stay on track if the food is already ready to go
Ketologie shakes are a good alternative to butter coffee and also a good meal replacement
One of the best things about keto is you can Google “keto [any food]” and almost always find a recipe! In general, here’s what I keep around:
Pantry: almond meal, coconut flour, nuts, swerve (sweetener), pork rinds, Moon Cheese, canned tuna, vitamins, Morton’s Lite Salt (helps with potassium — definitely read up on electrolyte needs!).
Fridge: ground meat or steaks, deli meat, cream cheese, shredded cheese, sugar-free mayo, grass-fed butter, eggs, spinach, zucchini, riced cauliflower, strawberries, jalapeños.
I should have in mass quantities? I work mostly from home, so traveling and trying to find keto friendly meals is not the issue. Willpower, however, will be my biggest issue.
Turkey bacon, eggs, lamb chops, salmon, heavy cream, avocado. You can survive on it.
Breakfast:
Avocado
2 boiled eggs
Creamer cheese spread on salmon
Coffee or tea with heavy cream
Lunch:
Tuna salad
Turkey lettuce wrap
Dinner:
Lamb or salmon or both with
Any sautéed veggies in a lot of butter
Lamb and salmon is really easy to make
water fast for the next 48-72 hours to get you into keto state - this is a good jumpstart. you can about 10g of carbs and that’s it during this fasting state
I’d pick up pink himalayan salt and a good bone broth... Plus kerrygold/ghee and coconut oil.. you’ll find yourself using it in everything. Don’t forget your veggies!
Thanks for everyone's advice! I am officially doing the keto thing. Successfully finished 5 days so far. Weekend scares me a bit, but working hard to stay in track. I have to say that it has actually been easier than I thought it would be!
Second that - Make sure you get enough vitamins. Don’t worry about taking too much, you will have very expensive piss
I don't drink coffee - any good alternatives to something like that?
M1 - water fast, like nothing but water???
you can nimble about 10g (e.g cheese) a day but yes water fast for 2-3 days. will kick off you keto state then start your keto diet after that.
listen to your body and don’t stretch to much though
Yeah - no way water fast will work for me... unless I can somehow manage to pick up a stomach bug over the weekend 😂
