My fiancée almost lost her life to a medical emergency. The doctor needed me to stay home 2 weeks to supervise her post-operative care once the hospital discharged her. We had nobody near that could help so I got permission to attend class remotely for 2 weeks from the dean and all professors. One professor removed me from a graded argument the week after I’d return. When I asked about this error, he had said “I had planned on your failure to appear” and that he preplanned giving me a 0 grade.

I passed the course with a fine grade in the end but had to fight to be treated with dignity after that. It was odd because he was very cooperative in letting me participate remotely those two weeks which worked great, but seeing him write me out of future assignments that had I not fixed would have flunked me was just appalling.

I still have the email exchanges saved and plan to release them down the road maybe. My school’s administration and many faculty treated low income and disabled students very poorly. Sadly, my story isn’t the worst one.

Hi. I’m an exempt employee (my boss’s only W-2 employee) and have two weeks of PTO. He’s making me use that for my physical therapy and doctors appointments, and I just got diagnosed with something related to my I jury (not work related) that could qualify me for temporary disability. How do I approach this and can I get fired for this? I have to take care of my body! And he’s insanely rigid, cheap, stubborn, and at this point I don’t even think he cares about me. I’m a very hard worker!

In February of this year I was approached by a company out of Colorado that’s an AWS reseller (I love working w/ AWS Products). They offered a great 6-figure salary, unlimited PTO, full medical/ dental & Wellness benefits. Things felt too good to be true at first yet I know my worth and thought about time, a company finally saw my worth also, so I resigned from the company I spent over 12+ years with. Things were going great, then June I was placed on a bogus PIP (fully Corrected) then laid off.

Anyone has experience negotiating a medical bill with MGH. I got some blood work done and was sent a bill of 1800. The bill was 2700 but negotiated rate with my insurance is 1800. I got the exact same blood work done in NC 2 years back and it cost me <200. My insurance said i should have gone to labcorp. I am new to Boston and didn't know this. MGH says prices are higher as we are a teaching hospital. It's just open loot and does not make sense. Anyone dealt with a similar situation.

Hostile work environment? 15 yes of HR experience- been w/current employer 1 year. Relationship w/manager is push & pull. The situation is stressful to the point it’s triggering health issues. Out of the blue today, my manager sends me an email titled “Accommodation Follow-Up”. Last week I wasn’t feeling well & took a 1 sick day to go to ER. There has been NO discussion for accommodations, nor any request made. But the email mentioned “pre-existing condition” and felt very intentional.

When is the best time to disclose your disability to an employer? During the interview phase, when you first start, or when the issues first come up and you need accommodations? I am a disabled lawyer with several psychiatric and one physical disability.

How do people balance living for today and being responsible enough to prepare for the future? I’m 40 and have been really concerned that I’m not living life enough. Just doing the things that make you happy whether it be experiences or material things. My biggest fear is retiring early or whenever and being too old to enjoy it or having less time to enjoy it. Just seems like so many people are getting sick or even worst dying much sooner than expected.

I was told that Macquarie might offer a Fixed pay of 29 lpa. Can some please tell :

1. Would EPF, Gratuity and medical insurance premium be over and above the fixed pay or is it all included within fixed pay?

2. What is the appraisal cycle?

I'm wanting to advance to a lead/supervisor position but I keep being turned down because I don't have enough supervisory experience. I have 5+ years in medical coding, 3 in medical records and 10 in accounting. I've mostly worked in smaller facilities where I've taken on numerous roles under one title. How am I supposed to gain supervisory experience if no one will give me a chance?

Imposter Syndrome Reality Check and the Power of IDK

“If you're great at what you do, people come to you for answers.

For lawyers especially, we're paid to have answers for our clients.

So saying "I don't know" can feel weak. It triggers our imposter syndrome.

But sometimes, it's the most powerful thing you can do.

Because you can then lay out a plan to find the answer. You can tap the right people.

And chances are that you'll arrive at an even better result.”
