Anyone with recent experience recruiting for Boston Consulting Group? Got in touch with a recruiter through referral, was directed to submit an application and already finished my pymetrics. Anyone know when I would be able to hear back and what the hiring timeline looks like? Recruiter suggested to get back in a few weeks but isn’t it too slow? McKinsey sent me an invite for 1st interview in a few days after they received my referral.

It’s common to take time between lateral moves so no it won’t turn heads, though 4 months is probably on the longer side.
Who cares?!? Take the time you need, no one will take it for you!
do you have an actual offer or entertaining a hypothetical? it might take you to longer than six months to get an in house role
In house pretty regularly can take over a year for a good offer.

This is what I want to do too. I have over 6 years of big law experience and unfortunately didn’t land an in house role last year. I think that with over 6 years now, I’d land one this year but I really want to take three months to travel and do all the things I wanna do… so planning to quit and send applications in the meantime. I figured worst case scenario is I can’t find a job in 6 months, so I’ll just go to another big law or mid tier firm.
Are you saying leaving one job and taking months off before starting the second? Or taking some kind of leave from the first job, returning and then quitting.
If you’re taking time off while still at your current firm, the new firm probably won’t know about it.
If you’re thinking you’ll get an offer and then tell them you don’t want to start for four months, you’ll probably get some pushback and you might even risk having the offer revoked. If you’re thinking about telling them that before an offer, you’ll probably not get an offer. Hiring needs are usually somewhat urgent (everyone wants to have hired someone yesterday). There’s some flexibility, but 3-4 months is a lot to ask for.
