Make it easy for them. Don’t email them saying “can you refer me to work there?” Or “can we have coffee?”. Find a role, make a bespoke resume for it with your non-work email included and two sentences on why you want to work there. It’ll get done, with the only exception being if they’re concerned that a client will give them sh*t for taking you off the business.

As someone who works "platform-side" in one of those kind of roles, don't underestimate how appreciated it is when someone agency side gets it and is a good partner! The best way to get an enthusiastic referral is to be great at your job, a good partner, and to have made them successful in some way. To see the value in what platforms can bring and to find opportunities for all the various stakeholders to collaborate. So, build those genuine relationships, and just be open that you'd be interested in exploring opps at their companies. Good luck!

Thanks, both. Definitely feel like I’ve built solid relationships with my reps. Just unsure how to do the “be open” part and let them know of my interest. Something tells me if they wanted me, they’d have tried poaching me already or would ask me about my career goals etc. I think our relationship is just too professional at the moment. But I will try bringing it up next time we’re catching up.

I am doing UXR interviews, and although I have read that a background in design is not required for UXR, I have been asked a few times now what my design experience is, and if I know how to use design apps. I have ample research experience and a solid understanding of product development cycles, which I think should be enough to land me a UXR role, but is it? I would love to hear from folk whether it’d be worth taking a few design courses!

Asking for advice please. I’m making 57k as a Finance Coordinator (2 yrs). My work is a hybrid role: 1) Exec assistant for a C-Level exec, 2) Financial Analyst. I cannot become Analyst now due to an on-going visa application that is going to take about 1-1.5 years. I am very grateful that my company is willing to help me with my visa (around 10k) this year. But I am thinking about asking for 70-75k since living cost in LA is pretty high and sometimes my bank account can be negative. What to do?

I had the weirdest thing happen to me. The CTO flew down to meet with me and discuss start date, OTE Salary, and even emailed me the benefits guide. He scheduled a meeting with the CEO and said “offer letter to follow.” Three hours before the meeting the CTO called me to tell me they were rescinding everything due to a business decision that they aren’t filling the Solutions Architect role. Does this happen? What should I think of it?

Hi bowl, I'm not okay today. I woke up feeling off, then my project told us that my workstream is ending this coming Friday. I feel like an after thought, I feel so anxious and so tired. I know I should eat today but I just want to lay down in bed and disappear. I'm sorry for this post, I just needed to write this and cry as I do it.

I’m currently working at a law firm in San Diego specializing in coastal property rights as a litigation paralegal and legal assistant. We received a minute order from a preliminary injunction hearing. Our client was ordered to post an injunction bond of $2,500. First our client walked to the courthouse to try to pay the bond up front, but they would not accept his money. He tried to call several bond companies, but all said the amount was too small. So how do you post an injunction bond?

I have just over 3 years of experience (2.5 as an Analyst and .5 as a software engineer) and all doing .Net coding. I live in the Denver area, and work remote. What salary is everyone getting for that kind of position? I make 97,000 with a 10% profit sharing bonus (up to 10%). I've also only been with my company under 6 months and got a raise when I got my current job. Any thoughts?

I spend 2 hours a day being productive and the rest of the time watching Netflix/Hulu/etc or napping/eating. Have been doing this for 3 months now and I continue to get positive feedback from everyone. I can do this for another year (duration of my project) and no one will say anything. Had to get that off my chest. Life is so nice/on easy mode these days 😬

I’d have freedom to use that money to invest in real estate. when i pull my yearly salary out in retirement I’d Atleast be in the 22% bracket if not higher. Since the last 3 dem presidents have increased spending like crazy i expect massive tax hikes in the future. Am i wrong?

So I’m considering using my 11% APR credit card to invest $10-20k. 11% is Pennie’s compared to the growth in ETH. Has anyone had similar thoughts? Or has anyone pulled the trigger on something like this?
