I’m trying to pad my savings a little before year-end, so I’ve been looking at low-lift holiday side hustles that won’t drain whatever energy I have left after work. Everything from gift-wrapping services to selling baked goods seems to be popping up in my feed. I’m curious if anyone here has actually tried a seasonal side gig that was worth the effort. Did anything end up being unexpectedly profitable?

I used to do seasonal work in a department store when I was in college and that was mostly fun. It's good it was fun, as it wasn't very profitable. I remember being assigned to gift wrapping at times, which was funny to me as I considered myself to be terrible at it. A woman from the store taught me some tips and I became a competent gift wrapper. One of those random skills that somehow never wound up on my resume.

Maybe you can use gift wrapping as a fun fact in an interview sometime.

If you have any interest in freealance work, I would try looking on Upwork. You might be able to find some side work there to do. Best of luck to you.

Looking to do informational interviews and try to network my way in, as I feel the barrier to entry was much harder than anticipated. Anything helps, thank you so much!

I just started a new job 2 months ago, benefits and PTO don’t start until 90 days in so I still have a month before I can take off any time, and today found out my company doesn’t offer paid maternity leave.
I’m really struggling handling the symptoms and maintaining my full time job. Thinking about looking for a part time job to have more time to myself through the pregnancy since I won’t be getting a paid leave anyways, but lost on where to start looking. Any recommendations?

If you do billable work on a given PTO/vacation day, do you still count that day as vacation? Or do you get that vacation day "back"? Or do you only get the part that you billed "back"? (Or some other option.)

I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?

After 45 minutes she said they will let me know...
