Instead of dealing with internal transfer nonsense/networking/politics, anybody ever jus try applying for a new job on their own career page?

So, if you'd like some wisdom from my journey entitled, "internal transfers: office politics on coke," here goes- "Network" aka convince them to "approve/support" your transfer with: 1. Your counselor, 2. As many PPDs in your area and your target area, 3. The head of the Service Area, 4. The head of the service line, 5. The head of your career model/desired career model, 6. Every single last "talent biz analyst" that you can find-- trust me, just when you think you've networked with all of them, there are more 7. Every last PM and make sure nobody thinks that you are even slightly annoying ever, 8. All of your co-workers, create a reputation for "being liked," and finally, for safe measure, 9. All of the big wigs that you can come up with, like that guy in Philadelphia who sends out 30 Rock quotes before every long weekend. Have fun! Inevitably, when someone on this journey makes your body have a stress reaction that you thought was reserved for cave men who were hunted by lions and you want to yell/type WTF, just say, "Can you help me understand what you mean...."

like

@D1 - wow. Just reading that stressed me out. Sorry you went through all that! 😟

like

Thought about it as well, curious if it worked out for anyone

Def considered it. Every time I have checked, the position that I wanted wasn't posted

I wonder if it would work, I imagine it to be bad if you get a call as a manager that your employee might be leaving. Networking might be a better aolution

Yeah my transfer took a lot of time and effort -- I'm finally in the SL I want, but not necessarily the practice

Thanks, A2. It is still on-going so wish me luck!

My internal transfer was more controversial than usual. Since Talent is on here and it is not final, I will leave it at that!

I am just unsure whether to accept the offer as I was waiting for kpmg reply as I want B4 on my resume which apparently is a big deal. Is BT also good on resume for future employers ??

Can anyone provide any advice, or has anyone successfully moved away from sales?

Hi all- My SO is currently at a Big4 & was initially preparing for S&O roles at GCP but given the high number of ex MBB consultants hired, they believe its just more competition to get the offer & to eventually get promoted over time.

Instead, they have decided to pursue program manager or cloud consultant roles, which they feel might have a lower barrier to entry from an assessment standpoint. Not sure if the bowl agrees but would like to get your thoughts, thanks!
