Interested to hear whether people think credit cards are beneficial for personal finance? And how people use them to their advantage? Or is it better to stay clear and be in more control of your budget? Are the benefits worth it?

Not very important. Budgeting, career, investments & retirement accounts are the cornerstones of personal finance.
Credit cards can be the cherry on top if those key things are taken care of.
Or they can be harmful if you aren’t building on a solid base.

I use credit cards for travel, gas, discounts, big purchases, and cashback.

I never use debit cards to pay for anything.

Consumer protection and helps me with budgeting.

I invest my cashback into ETFs throughout the year.

Hi Fishes/Seniors,
This will be the first time I will be in tax slab.
I have few queries can anyone please help me regarding this.
In ELSS mutual the total we can save save tax is 1.5lakh. Do we need to invest yearly 1.5 lakh yearly to save tax? I am planning to have a Sip of 5000 monthly for 3 years. So total money invested in 3 years will be around 60000 * 3 = 180000.
Will that be sufficient to save tax or Do I need to have a sip of 12000 per month to save tax.

I’m considering debt consolidation, specifically a company called National Debt Relief which seems legit but I’m just so hesitant because I’m scared to make my situation worse. Need advice. Have some credit card debt that I’ve been working to pay off. Have made progress but want to lower it quickly. We have dual income, with a house (~$300k in equity), 1 kid and 1 on the way. I’ve looked into debt consolidation via HELOC but also have ~$80k in vested equity in my company that I haven’t touched. Get equity refreshes every year. Would it be smarter to cash out $15k-$20k of that to pay debt vs. a HELOC at ~5% given that will still require mthly payments
