I've been interviewing with some companies, and now I have to decide between JPMorgan Chase and Globant.
Globant is more innovative, and has remote work. I will enter to work with a Sillicon Valley startup based in San Francisco. The tech stack is React, Nextjs, AWS, and a serverless architecture.
JPM is semi remote, and less innovative. The tech stack Java, SpringBoot and AWS. But I'd do more migration tasks, like dockerize projects and pass them to kubernetes. What would you choose?
Although Amazon has instituted a hiring freeze and layoffs are probably on their way, I went through the loop for a security engineer position at AWS. Before I attended the final interviews, Amazon placed the hiring freeze and called me to ask if I wanted to go ahead or cancel my application. I decided do go ahead Right now I'm waiting for their response and the position I applied to changed from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration". Thoughts?

Have a formal offer at Citi for 120K as an AVP in the NY office. Currently making 92K at my current role where I feel there’s not much room to grow anymore. Is this a fair offer? I currently WFH pretty much full time at my current role which has been amazing, but it seems like Citi would require me to be there 2-3 days in the office per week - and this is something I’m very hesitant about. Thoughts on how to approach this?

Another thing is posing the “why are you leaving consulting” as a positive rather than a negative. Like “I want true ownership for the success of the brand rather than short term engagements that don’t allow the depth and focused attention Im really looking for”
You should not go wrong when you say consulting travel was too much on you, they understand that.
In case of why wayfair, tell them you are better than amazon and ikea.
Try to prepare a solid list of situations that you can present. Use the STAR framework to make it work.
Don’t just apply to jobs you aren’t interested in. Find a true area you’re interested in and it’ll be easier to show your skills
C1: Yup! That’s the second part of my canned answer - moving from advisor to owner and that being core to development.
Right...I need to figure out where I am failing haha
I am not advancing beyond round 1 for any of these positions
My weaknesses: Why this company? Why do you want to leave consulting? I think my answers seem too canned. I obviously do research beforehand based on the company, position and team
Most of these are headhunters showing up in my LinkedIn so not sure if referrals are needed?
C2 - good point! Re Wayfair: it was a salary decrease and a relocation so I wasn’t super jazzed about it
NewCo1: You are right. While these are awesome companies, I need to actually apply to stuff I am interested in doing.
