McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? Rising Star
Pressed / laundered shirt and jacket preferred
No red tie
Do you normally wear a red tie specifically
Pro
Had a few zoom interviews post covid and I didn't bother with a suit and tie (I normally would for an in person interview). Did the zoom interviews in a shirt and a merino sweater (it's winter here) and I was still overdressed compared to my interviewers (one, from Accenture, was in a t-shirt).

I’ve been wearing a nice top/blouse as a female. All my interviewers (Male) have been wearing Tshirts and even have had baseball caps on.
I conducted interviews a few weeks ago and wore my usual zoom outfit - tshirt. Most interviewees were in business casual- guys were wearing shirts blazers no tie or just dress shirt. Women wore blazers or blouses.
I would wear a nice shirt or blouse with a jacket. Always better to be dressed for success! Besides if you are dressed nicer then you will feel better! Good luck
I agree with D3. Dress sharp with pressed shirt and blazer/jacket. Wouldn’t go as far as suit and tie. For that matter, you could be wearing shorts. I conducted a few interviews last week, I was in a (collared) polo shirt. One interviewee was wearing a suit and a tie (was trying too hard). The woman interviewee was wearing a blouse, which I thought was more appropriate for a zoom interview. For strategy roles
