You are very likely to have well over a year of tenure in this role if you start looking today. I am in my 7 month of unemployment, and looking for work has been my job in that time.
What matters most in sales is that you can demonstrate success, it won't matter that you've been there a year if you don't have a good story with some juicy wins. Conversely, being there only 8 months won't be the focus if you've been knocking it out of the park the whole time.

I do not think 8 months is automatically a problem, especially if the reality of the role was very different from what was sold. One short stint is explainable.
