Is it normal for your family to not be interested at all in your wedding? I talk with many family members throughout the month and only one has asked about it. I’m a bit hurt.

I’m sorry I can definitely understand how that’s hurtful. I’m not even that close with my family but when I see them they always ask how wedding planning is going. Even my coworkers show interest. I get what other commenters are saying and that it won’t be as prominent of an event in their lives but I still think it’s polite to show interest

How far out is your wedding? Have you set the date and venue? What is your relationship and what was the purpose that prompted your interactions?

If you haven't set your date or venue, some people feel like it's rude to ask. Have you sent Save the date or invitations? The wedfing is front and center for you, but if it isn't imminent, it is not forefront for anyone else.

If your wedding is over a year out and your announcement isn't new...then it's pretty typical. If your wedding is 60 days out, it's atypical. Somewhere in between, it's just not on the top of their mind. I wouldn't take it personally.

like

I can see coming from your perspective it would be hurtful, but for somebody else it just isn’t as prominent in their day to day. And then on the complete other side, some people are constantly bombarded by family members for details or questions and then that in turn causes more stress.

I WISH they didn’t ask so many questions leading up to my wedding. Be careful what you wish for 😂

I made a mistake. I talked with the ex this morning. He said he misses me. And that while he walk talking to the other woman, he wished he was talking to me instead. And when he saw that I didn’t respond to his texts, he drank a shit ton. And then called this morning.

He’s not willing to commit to the other women because he’s not over me.

I need to block him.

Let’s say you have two young, high income partners in a couple who want to buy a house together but don’t really care to get married. They already live together in an apartment but both want to move to a house to build equity and have a yard, not share walls, etc. Should one partner buy the house and the other pays rent until they get married, or should they get a mortgage together without being married? I realize there isn’t a “right” answer but I’m interested in people’s experiences here.

A majority of society tends to stick around to things because they are influenced by "enough" people doing something similar. Hence, they start living someone else's life instead of theirs.

Think about what you want for yourself, what's important, what you value. Then, ask yourself. Do I have these things? Am I living by the things that are important to me?

People that have small children - how do you deal with your child’s stress and separation anxiety when you go to work? My 4-year old goes berserk almost every day at some point relating to me having to work. My spouse is a stay at home parent, but that doesn’t seem to matter to my son. A piece of me dies everyday because of this.
