I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? Honestly just wait. Why pay $550 now (net $250 w/e) when the card will be there when things open up.
There are some decent no fee Chase cards that you can build points with and transfer to the CSR when the time comes.
I’m still spending a fair bit on restaurants TBH - just takeout. And the reward redemptions have been expanded to give a 1.5 cent payback per point on more categories. So it still winds up being my first in wallet on almost everything.
I just got one - so I hope the general answer is yes on this thread. But I expect travel to be a go in fall so wanted to build up the points now
If you’re not traveling or eating out, it’s hard to earn a lot of points on the CSR since everything else is only a 1% earn rate instead of 3%. I recommend earning on another card for now (e.g., chase freedom which is 1.5% earned on everything and no fee) and then transferring those points once you get CSR later on when your points become worth another 1.5x, for an effective rewards rate of 2.25%
Ended up not getting it and waiting. Thanks for the input everyone
Go with the preferred. There’s a 60,000 sign up bonus and only $95 yearly. I’ll refer you abs we both get another 15k points
You just need to do more business with BofA, and make sure you're enrolled in Preferred Rewards to get cash back multipliers.
On that card I get 4.5% cash back in a category of my choice, and when I hit the top tier this summer, I'll get 5.25% cash back.
Combine that with the BofA platinum card and now you've got great cash back on everything, plus airline incidentals and Global Entry credit.
You can chase points with other setups, but they make it insanely easy to rack up rewards.
