Any advice on moving from L4 to L5 in Amazon?
Dear fishes, After working in Autosar(CAN/FR/OS) configuration for 4 years, I wanted to switch domain to device drivers. So I bought a STM board. Joined some udemy courses. Learnt SPI/I2C/NVIC/exception handling and FREERTOS/OS. Now I want to apply to companies like Nvidia Texas Instruments Qualcomm NXP Without any prior experience I am a bit nervous as people say the interviews would be very difficult in these.
Please help with embedded and prog ques for these interviews.

It is very very very very situation dependent. Not company dependent, situation.
I have teams where they basically have a pipeline and promote everyone every 2-4 years because the top folks go to other departments or leave. Pretty typical in S&O groups.
I have teams where no one has been promoted in 5 years because no one has left.
If you are good and have some luck, which I imagine you do coming from MBB, you can have a very lucrative career. You also need to understand the talent you will be competing with. An average MBB consultant is going to blow 95% of the people I interact with out of the water.
I know MBB folks who joined at the SD level, are VPs 10 years later making entry level partner money.
For context, I’m at a top 10 Pharma.

If you just chill for 15-20 years, will you also just inevitably get there?

Nope. You most likely will get stuck with a title until retirement or lay off.

OP, in pharma it’s a very slow career progression.
Among my 100s of colleagues, perhaps 5 people who were able to jump three title positions in 5 years or less.
What’s the typical pace?
