Is there anyone, at any agency, on any client, at any level, in any position—and Im wording this very generally on purpose—who would say you are in charge, not your client? That you’re running things?

Yes, pretty consistently our clients look to us to lead the marketing aspect of their businesses. The few who wield their position of ‘the one who writes the check’ as a weapon are the ones who are institutionally dysfunctional or are functionaries who aren’t empowered to make meaningful marketing decisions.

2 out of 3 of my clients are very trusting partners. I’d say I’m lucky.

I serve 4 clients. For 3 of them, I'm running things. For the other one.... even they themselves can't agree with each other.

Yeah, the way I see it is: if everything was smooth sailing and the way I want it... this job is amazing, I want to keep it for 10 years... but if 2 parts out of 10 is not so great, I can Iive with that and it's what the money is for!

I freelance and I can always tell who is really running the show on any given account. Usually, the client is aware of it too and that person becomes the default go to on the brand. Downside is, clients often rotate off of the account after a while, and the new client may or may not love the person who was really in charge of the brand before.

I’ve completed the first interview with the hiring manager and a colleague, and have been fortunate to get to the next stage but im unsure how to prepare. I’ve done the usual compentencies, strengths and weaknesses and company research. But I don’t want to fail at the last hurdle as I really like this company and it would be a dream to work there any support or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Let’s talk comp — I’m a remote head of recruitment with 6 years of experience being paid 75K base plus bonuses that got me to 90K this year. I’m interviewing for other jobs, and have a potential offer at $130K base. Any idea what the market is like? Is seems like anything between 72K and $250K is possible. I have no idea what to ask companies for.

I have a in person(online, 4 hours - 4 people) technical interview coming up and I have been practicing my coding for the past 3 weeks. The only thought I've been having is "what if I can't solve the coding question?" I am still fairly new to the software engineer scene and the position is for a level 1 software engineer.
Does it essentially end my chances if at any point I can't solve the question? I mean I will definitely attempt to talk it through, ask question, but no progress in code. 🤷

Can someone explain how billable hours work? At a new agency and although I had to fill timesheets at my previous agencies, they were mainly used to ensure we weren’t over servicing a client/for setting the appropriate retainer for contract renewals. I asked ppl at my agency but haven’t gotten a proper explanation. I get the impression that billing to the agency admin code isn’t recommended, and my manager said he bills everything to client codes, but that doesn’t make sense to me .
