I've been in PeopleOps (mostly focused on TA Ops) for over 9 years now. I've somehow gotten by without a degree in HR or a certification, but would like to get some more education to continue to advance my career. What are your thoughts on PHR vs SPHR vs SHRM for someone with my years of experience and current role as a manager?

SHRM is correlated with a pay boost and I think it helps if you are in management or want to progress.

like

Another vote for SHRM. More all-encompassing, which will likely produce greater value from an opportunity and compensation standpoint.

like

Go for SHRM. It is more knowledged-based. It will also help you get a higher pay or even higher position.

People were talking about the Seiko cocktail time in here, just got in the OG, SARB065. Wow that dial is really something, Seiko is great at that. It’s not quite Grand Seiko or anything, but the finishing on the markers and handset is very nice for a $500 watch. It’s a little thicker than I like for a dress watch, and I hate the way the strap looks, but I get why Seiko-philes love these.

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

I am being considered for a HR Analyst role as we speak with potential of making $20k more (HR and Talent Acquisition are separate at my company). Is it worth the jump to HR/Benefits or should I just get the experience and eventually make more money in Recruiting? I have a general background in HR but find recruiting to be super easy, to be honest.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
