I’ve been laid off for the 1st time in my 10+ year career. I decided to go in-house at a tech place & my contract wasn’t renewed, so no unemployment. I have about 60K in an emergency fund (I’m a frugal person), but reading about everyone being out of work for so long—I’m scared. Just because I have this money doesn’t mean I want to blow through it. I come from a working class family and saw my dad lose everything during the 08 recession. I don’t want that to be me. Sorry to vent, I’m just scared

Curious questions! What are the things offered by companies after laying off their employees? Do they pay 3 months severance? Or not?

Can someone explain how billable hours work? At a new agency and although I had to fill timesheets at my previous agencies, they were mainly used to ensure we weren’t over servicing a client/for setting the appropriate retainer for contract renewals. I asked ppl at my agency but haven’t gotten a proper explanation. I get the impression that billing to the agency admin code isn’t recommended, and my manager said he bills everything to client codes, but that doesn’t make sense to me .
