I've been trying to move away from internal auditing for a while now. The upper end of this range is never really a reality, it's almost as if it's bait for people to apply for the job. What factors typically influence the salary range for auditors in different sectors? For instance, how do public accounting, internal auditing, and external consulting roles compare in terms of compensation?

I do sales for a major engineering firm. Focused on new business and exploring new markets. Last year I was in the top 50% for order intake, and first in number of projects won along with number of new customers. I think this is extraordinary given the effort it takes to win new business.

For next year my goal increased by 2.5X, and less of what I bring in counts towards that target. I really enjoy my job but I will essentially be getting a large pay cut. Lost in what to do besides quit??

When negotiating salary, what is a reasonable ask in terms of increase? I am really hoping to be about 14% higher.
