I’ve seen a Strategy& Deals Strategy - Senior Associate - non-strategy experience job advert for the London office. I’m currently approaching 1 year on my EY consulting FSO grad scheme and hate the work I’m doing as it’s not challenging, nor interesting, with a lot of time spent on the bench or doing side of desk work. I’m looking to pivot into strategy. I’m not getting anywhere with an EY-Parthenon transfer (may take another year for an interview). What skills does S& look for in this role?

I want to ensure my Cover Letter truly reflects what Strategy& is looking for, to give me a good chance to making it to the assessment days

Lol no one reads those

SA there is a post MBA role so a 1YC at EYP

like

That applies to the US not london. There isn’t an MBA track in S& Deals in london

You’re going to struggle to get a SA row with limited relevant experience plus limited years of experience. Suggest applying for another grad role or seeing out another year

2 yrs at EY might not even get you SA at PwC, much less S&. You can certainly try but i would suggest to be more realistic.

like

2 YoE especially without specific M&A strategy experience will not cut it for SA. You’ll probably come in as an A2 (1 year tenure)

For those commenting - again it’s a non-strategy experience pathway for the SA role

Again, as I’ve mentioned above, could finish a grad scheme

Thoughts on how to stand out in a Cover Letter will be helpful

Try to demonstrate knowledge/ interest in the work. What that team does is mainly commercial due diligence on potential targets for PE clients. Do you have any experience that you can link to that? Have you ever worked with investors before? Relevant experience can be market sizing/ research/ analysis, competitive analysis, customer research, business plan analysis even if not directly linked to deal work.

Hey Fishes,

Joined LTI recently in P3 band. However not allocated any project. Got a call from the resource management team to relocate, which I rejected upfront as I was promised a role in the location I am posted. It has been over 2 weeks since I am in bench. What shall be the next steps, shall I wait for some days or start looking for other jobs as getting a project looks difficult as there are minimalist responses.

Our district is so lax on the students this year. With tech issues and distance learning days, we’ve gone from accommodating to enabling real quick. No penalties for late work, taking excuses for attendance, lower academic and behavioral standards... We were beginning to make so much progress on transforming our school culture, but this year is erasing that and then some. Is anyone else concerned about how to raise the expectations and students’ self-discipline back to pre-enabling levels?

SO and I got in to a disagreement on the background of Indian tech CEOs. It appears that they are all from 1 or 2 major communities in India.

While he thinks that its genetics/being naturally gifted that got them to where they are I believe it's the environment & discipline that made them successful. We are not from said communities but curious to hear your thoughts on who is more accurate.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
