Additional Posts in Audit Bowl
Just signed the outside employment form in KPMG onboarding system. I actually wanted to start dabbling in creative writing as a potentially monetizable hobby, but I'm guessing this may pose issues.
Definitely interested in the "exception from this policy may be requested if provision of non-professional services doesn't interfere with one's duties of causes conflict of interest" clause, though. Has anyone been able to get one of those before?

It’s not as much as they’re implying. Maybe a few thousand at most. Unless they’re comparing international or M&A tax to audit. It would be more accurate to compare those two tax specializations to accounting advisory or FDD/TAS
2 things, both determined by the market
Tax is considered slightly more "value-add" because they can potentially save the client money on taxes.
Tax is also more niche than audit, while audit generally has much broader opportunities, leading to (I believe, don't quote me) broader supply of audit professionals, as more would prefer the flexibility of future careers.
So audit is more cost based and has a much higher supply, meaning they get paid less, but the upside is potential higher future career pay. I think most CFOs start in audit.
M1, yes, I believe I said most, not all. I've seen various surveys/studies floating around listing CFO career starts at somewhere around 70-90% audit. Glad you work with some that don't fit that.
