That's not small haha. I say you swallow your pride this first year. Continue to set yourself apart from other staff by working hard. Good luck
That just covers inflation. You didn't even really get a year.
Get a raise*
My exact thoughts. Granted I work for a smaller firm, but their net income was $35M for the year. You can't tell me they don't have more money to give out to their top performing employees.
Are you close enough to any other staff to bring up what they received? This may be just common increases for this small firm. Ps, I came from a 10 person firm and got similar raises. Hang in there. Get some experience and leave in a year
To be honest, raises at all firms are a joke until you hit senior. As a staff, you're easily replaceable. Don't expect much until you hit year 3
I don't think your firm is small, but smaller firms definitely do less for raises - my sisters small firm 3-5% was a good raise. At my (prior) firm which had 1500+ you got 6% just for breathing and 8% for good performer. If they're giving you prorated raise for half year, then 3% sounds OK, but not great
^hope that doesn't burn you out. I did that for the first year then burned out. Even with a huge raise, I don't want to do anything anymore. Need to get myself together before I get fired. 😂
My first year I received 6% thereafter every year for 7 years I received ~10%. Firm was top 50 then merged and now top 20
Small firms don't give large raises. What is your base? Is it lower too?
I live in a city with a low cost of living and am making $49,900 based off of 2300 hours.
If living in a low cost of living area, I think you are fair paid. Start of 50k is good for your area. I'm in a low cost area as well and now a manager. Started at 42k 6 years ago
Yup we all got the same and we all started on the same date. My firm has roughly 2,500 employees nation wide, so small compared to B4 firms. I'd say it's ranked around 18th nationally.
That really depends on your current salary and where you are in the range. If range is 50-60 and the mid is 55k, and you were making 54, that's fair given you've only been there for 10 months. Wait until you're in industry where salary adjustments are 1-2% per year...
The thing that's odd to me is I know I'm a high performer compared to my colleagues who started at the same time as me.....we all got the same raise though. I'm the one staying later at night, working weekends, hustling for more work, and always online at home. I guess that doesn't result in a greater increase.
