Is traveling to New Orleans fun with a toddler ?
You could have also bought the flight within chase portal and used the same cc to get even more points - another alternative to gaining points vs redeeming. (If you do that with the Chase sapphire reserve card, 10x on flight purchases within portal)
Thought it’s 5x for flights? 10x is for hotels and car rentals (all through UR portal)
That does seem like a lot, esp. given that Turkish Airlines is running a deal for $650 to Tel Aviv. (great airline BTW). Turkey is great to visit, though

Used 35,000 capital one points to book Jfk > Istanbul > bodrum in business in august
That will be a dope trip. Bodrum is awesome.
According to Points Guy those Chase points are worth 2 cents each, so technically, you lost $1000 in value
That said I’ve never found any Chase redemptions that actually came out to 2 cents a point
The Points Guy is generally laughed about in the points and miles community at this point, guy is a complete sell out and just writes articles favoring companies who take him to the Grammys regardless of how awful said company is.
WOW that’s amazing. Unfortunately I don’t have Capital one 😢
Should I cancel and look at another time as this may be too high?
I should clarify it’s round trip, still a bad deal?

Did you transfer points to a partner or just redeem via the chase portal
How do you transfer points? 🧐
I’m very new to this so please excuse my newbyness but how I can check the price (points) of the flight through different partners. My original flight was booked through Turkish Airlines
Think it depends on airline, I did cancel spirit within the first 24 hours as well but I expect chases returning points would take some time..
One way? If so that’s horrific deal, if round trip not as bad but yikes that’s way more than transferring to an airline and booking with miles on that airline would be.
Generally Istanbul is star alliance so wise to go through lifemiles or United.
In that case, pay with cash and wait till point redemption rate is better
I bought three new A380 Singapore Air First Class suites flights with less that and still would have had a few miles left of your 163k. Retail value stupid high.
Best ROI is almost, without question, transferring to partners. But you give up flexibility by having to use points over $ so it really depends on what you value the most.
